USB

How do i know if my computer supports USB 2.0 or 3.0 or what

Unless you have a recent new purchase/build, you don't have USB 3.0. I suggest you google for PC Wizard 2010(maybe 2011) and d/l it. Run it and find the specs of your system. If you find, you have USB2.0, you can upgrade using some pci type card for USB3.0. You can also review your manual, its something they definitely want to point out.

Unless your PC was made, say, last week, you don't have it. Like Willy says, desktop PCs can upgrade to a USB-3 controller card that will plug into a vacant PCI slot. I have one for my external SATA hard drive in a USB-3 enclosure.

The speed is noticeably faster.

You can use a USB-2 cable on a USB-3 device but without the extra conductors you only get USB-2 speed.
