Laptop brightness settings

Hello,
I have a Lenovo ideapad Y560 running windows 7 and i'm having an issue with my monitor brightness settings... they keep changing on me. I set them to the highest setting for when its plugged in but then seconds later they dim back down to 50%. and it seems to be moving around even as i'm sitting here typing this message, it dims and lights up to 50% but doesn't stay at 100%. I even go into my power settings, choose high performance and set my display setting to 100 and then seconds later it will dim, i will go back into my settings and they're set at 50% even after i just saved them at 100. can someone help me with this?

http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-inspiron-dell-studio/294722-dells-auto-backlight-dimmer-software-2.html notes Dell's software to do this.

Some laptops have this and some use some autodimmer based on ambient light sensing. LOOK for those features on your machine.

1. Start > Control Panel > Systems and Security > Power Options.
2. On the one that is selected, click on Change plan settings.
3. Click on Change advanced power settings on the new page.
4. Expand the Display settings and see if there is an auto-dim option.
